When you apply to Arizona State University, you will be asked to indicate your intended major
Once students have completed initial coursework in the BA in Theatre, they have the option to apply to the concentration in Design and Production (Theatre). Application for admission into this concentration is suggested no later than the end of your freshman year to allow three years of academic supervision. If you are a transfer student, you should apply for the concentration during your first semester at ASU.
- Interview with design and production faculty (conducted at the end of each semester)
- Submission of a letter of intent, a resume, a portfolio, and an unofficial transcript (a minimum GPA of 2.50 ASU and 3.0 Theatre is required)
Design and production faculty meet regularly with students as a group to monitor personal progress, to assess portfolio development and to further engage as a community.
Retention in the program is based on satisfactory artistic growth (as evidenced in a mandatory portfolio review reflecting work completed during each semester), production participation, and maintenance of a minimum 2.50 overall GPA and a 3.00 Theatre GPA. For more information, see the design and production concentration handbook.
Eligible students denied admission into the design and production concentration can appeal in writing to the coordinator, Jennifer Setlow of the undergraduate design and production program.
