Master of Fine Arts in Theatre, Directing - Admission Requirements

Steps to Apply

1. Apply to Graduate Education

a. You must meet all admission requirements of Graduate Education.

2. School of Film, Dance and Theatre requirements

Admission You must meet all admission requirements of the Graduate Education. In addition, the School of Film, Dance and Theatre requires a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work in theatre and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.20 for all course work in theatre.

Interviews for directing candidates will be available both on campus and at URTA National Unified Auditions and Interviews. Interviews via phone or campus visit are available by appointment. Please contact Professor William Partlan, coordinator of the MFA Directing program, to schedule an interview.

School of Film, Dance and Theatre requires:

  • Personal interview, either on campus or at one of the URTA sites
  • Statement of purpose
  • Current résumé
  • Three references of professionals familiar with your work
  • Written approach to dramatic work selected by the reviewing committee

 

Application Deadline. The next recruiting cycle will begin fall 2019 for matriculation in August 2020.
