Lisa Drew is a second-year MFA candidate in Dance at Arizona State University and is completing a graduate certificate in Dance Teaching Artist Praxis. In addition, Lisa is a certified ACE Group Fitness Instructor, holds a certificate in Progressing Ballet Technique, and is currently working towards her Provisional Arts Education K-12 Certification with the Arizona Department of Education.
Lisa's creative work focuses on bringing the female-lived experience to life by centralizing female voices, sharing stories and experiences, and exploring gendered and/or societal narratives. She often creates with phenomenological and narrative methods of inquiry to promote and honor individuality, individual agency, and collaboration within her creative process and her creative work.
Lisa’s academic research is centered around building somatic and dance science literacy within dance technique classrooms to promote holistic learning and safe training practices for students. More recently, Lisa has begun to investigate the need for supplemental physical fitness training within the university-level dance population and holistic methodologies and practices to integrate dance-specific physical fitness training within the technique classroom.
